In January 2019 we started the process of developing the Shaping Sheffield plan. This built on and refreshed the original Shaping Sheffield strategy developed through city wide events held in 2015 and 2016. The 2015/16 vision was based on key principles of prevention, early help and working together differently.
To refresh the plan we needed to confirm that the original priorities were still valid and would remain valid for the next 5 years. We engaged with front-line staff and members of the public to ensure that their key concerns and priorities were taken into account, and that these were incorporated into a robust plan of action.
We gathered staff and public feedback through the following methods:
- An online questionnaire asking for views on the key barriers to working and providing services and support across organisational boundaries, as well as ideas for addressing these barriers
- 5 workshops attended by staff from across health and social care, including representatives from education, the police and sports retail
- Healthwatch Sheffield ran 3 workshops for members of the public to contribute and conducted individual interviews to collect rich perspectives to feed into the process
Our refreshed plan is about setting out our priorities and planned outcomes for 1 and 5 years and will focus our efforts on five priorities, acknowledging the wider factors that shape our population’s health. Our five priorities take a lifetime approach:
- Starting Well
- All Age Mental Health
- Promoting Prevention
- Neighbourhood Development
- Ageing Well
